Reaching Your Dreams and Vision Rule #7 PATIENCE

In this life we must learn to wait on God. When we put in the work now we must activate our faith and know that God is and will always work on our behalf. We can not reach our passion and dreams if we do not learn patience. In my life journey I am learning more and more patience is key to reaching the destination.

But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:13

My dreams are being realized and it took and is taking a lot of patience. Days of frustration occurs because I forgot to be patient. Please know that you can reach your dreams and vision once you learn patience. This past year has been wonderful with some bumps in the road but I have done a lot and seen a lot. Reaching Your Dreams and Vision Rule #6 Determination

Reaching your dreams and vision will take determination. In order to do our Father's business we must put faith and work together. You can not activate your faith without determination. In order to reach the purpose God has created us for we must be determined and believe that with Christ Jesus I can do anything. We must be determined to keep God first in all we do. Be determined that God is bigger than me, my problems, my solutions, human beings and my dreams. Be determined that whatever God has for you it is for you. Stop focusing on someone else dreams and be determined to find the purpose and will God has called you for. Are you determined?

Mad Believer Documentary - Moving Forward

After praying, thinking, and discussing Mad Believer Documentary is moving forward.

The site www.MadBeliever.com was updated and I am in the process of scheduling screenings throughout the U.S.A. I will give an update on the screenings at the end of March.

One screening I will give you information on is June 5th, 2010 in Pennsylvania.

Secondly, this week I am preparing for my workshop "Can I Be Mad At God?" on Saturday (02-27-10) at Turner Memorial Baptist Church in Steelton, PA. I love presenting. In April I will be presenting in New, Orleans and I am so excited about that opportunity. From now until the Fall I will be planting seeds and anticipating the growth and movement. God is a good! God will always provide and keep His word.

If you have a dream that you are passionate about begin planting seeds and watch God work on your behalf. If you do not plant your talents how can God help you? Begin praying, planting and praising watch God do what men can not. Stay encouraged and stay in prayer.

Reaching Your Dreams and Vision Rule #5 Prayer

Prayer changes things. The saying is more than a cliche, it is the truth. I know for a fact that when we pray to God in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ, God listens and give us His will, His provision, His comfort, His love and His protection.

A quick story about prayer
One day I was driving to work and I had a situation a small voice stated "did you pray"? The answer was no I did not pray and did not even think about praying. At that moment I stopped and asked God for His help. Guess what, He helped and everything worked out better than I expected. Prayer changes things. It may not be the answer you want but trust me, better yet trust God it is the right answer for you. Stop moving so fast and pray. Ask God for direction, guidance, strength, blessings, provisions, comfort, peace, love, and ideas. Sometimes all you have to do is say Father in your Son's name Jesus you know my need. Amen. Allow God to be God and everything will be better than fine it will be perfect.

This rule is very simple but yet very powerful and the rule is to understand your worth. God created us and when He did He made us wonderful, magnificent and in His image. So, if we are in the image of God we are worth life and having it more abundantly. Stop having a pity party because of life events and remember you are worth a lot because God made you. Know that you are capable, able and willing. Do you know who you are?

Rule number is 3 is no looking back. Focusing on past failure, hurt, pain and confusion can create a fear and prevent movement. Looking at the past can help or it can hinder. So, if you must look back glance at the negative and stare at your past victories. Please do not do the other way around. Better yet look to God where our strength comes from.

Do not allow your failures to stop you from dreaming and reaching your vision. When it is God's will you could fail 1,000,000 times and it is the 1,000,001 you will be successful. Do not give up or give in. Remember your future is always greater than your past. Holding on to something lesser when you have something greater in front of you is insane. 2010 live with God and keep your mind on Christ and He will keep it in perfect peace and fixed on your future not the past.

How To Reach Your Dreams & Goals -- Rule Number 2

Rule Number 2

Reach out to people who are doing what you would like to do. Case and point when I wanted to do a documentary on Black on Black crime I put myself amongst people who did what I wanted to do. My original idea for the film was to take an historical perspective on African American crime and the black church.

When my wheels began to spin I contacted film festivals to volunteer. I volunteered at the Hampton Film Festival in the Fall of 2004. The environment of the film festival made me want to be in a film festival and if all goes well the dream will be realized in the Winter/Spring of 2010. How did I do that? First you must go where you want to be to make sure that is truly in your heart and God's plans. Once you have checked it out made some connections and learned some information you are on your way. Please do not forget rule number one pray first and than put forth the work. No one can do it for you. The word of God states faith without work is dead. So, you must have the faith and guidance but you must put in the work. Sometimes the work maybe for free and that is okay because it is still WORK!!!!

How To Reach Your Dreams & Goals-- Rule Number One

Having faith in God and leaning on Jesus always works for me. When I started on this road of film making I thought if I had an idea and the passion to bring it to life it would happen. At times I forgot to pray or better yet I thought I did not need to pray and created plans on my own. Some of those plans included asking friends and family to help out with the project because money was low. Out of the 500 plus friends and family I have on facebook only two came through. Now with that said many replied and stated they would but only two actually did. I was disappointed and my feelings were crashed because I banked on people coming through. Never once did I take my need to God; instead I took it to man and they failed. Not enough money to finish the film and the feeling of disappointment had me overwhelmed. When I became still and went back to the Father through Christ Jesus all of my needs were met. The lack of money from man created an opportunity for God. Sometimes a setback occurs because we never go to God first and we totally relay on man. When I put my trust in God and told Jesus about my disappointments and frustrations the tears stopped and Gods blessings began.

If you want to live out your dreams rule number one take it to the Lord in prayer. You do not need to make any moves, you must ask God for guidance and wisdom to progress. Do not get me wrong I still fall short in this area but little by little and step by step I am learning and praising my God because my help comes from the Lord.

Oh how I love Jesus because He first loved me. If you want the desires of your heart and if you want your dreams to be reality take a step back and fall on your knees and ask Jesus to direct and guide your steps and mind.

Yesterday, my aunt called and said she ordered me a digital camcorder and it is coming in the mail. I really needed that because I can record my workshops and the festivals I will be going to. My day was so great because I was excited and filled with anticipation because of my gift coming in the mail.

After work I realized I am happy over what my aunt said because I trust that it will come in the mail. So, I questioned why am I not that excited when I am going through a rough patch. God said He would never leave or forsake. So, why when I go through trouble I am not excited like its coming in the mail. WHY NOT?

Jesus is my provider, He said I will have life more abundantly according to His riches in glory. He said He will give me the desires of my heart. He said He will make my enemy my footstool. He said I have victory in HIM. That's what JESUS said. So, presently I am working on getting that same excitement in all things because when God has your back you will always walk in victory. I am highly expecting God's blessings, God's provision, God's peace, God's Healing and God's comfort. I GOT MAIL!!!!

I am very excited about what the Lord is going to do with Mad Believer. I know He will open doors that no man could open and open hearts to open the doors. I am excited about helping people grow better in grief and not bitter. The comfort Jesus Holy Spirit gave me is so great I can not and will not keep it to myself. Highly expecting great things in the months and years to come. I WILL GET MAIL!!!!!!!!!!!

Steps Forward

After a couple of weeks of stressful events Mad Believer is moving forward. Actually, the film will be completed on Monday/Tuesday and I will pick it up from NY on Tuesday. I am very thankful to God for allowing my dreams of this film to be a reality. Many days and nights I questioned will it ever be and am I making the right moves. Now that the project is moving into another phase I can say without a doubt yes I have made the right moves (well at least sometimes).

My dream could not be a reality without God's power, Jesus' connections, and the Holy Spirit guidance. When I followed the above directions I was fine when I went off the path that is when things looked a little gray (smile).

I could not have done the post-production work of Justine Sandbach, John Bosch, and Jon Fordham. The part they played in making this film a great documentary was major. I am so thankful for all three. I am especially thankful for the kindness of John Bosch and Jon Fordham. Jon Fordham and John is a professional to the highest power and has a heart of gold. When I make the big times I would love to work with them again.

Now I have to activate plan A so that documentary can be seen by more than my family lol. Praying hard to keep God first and patience to enjoy the waiting period and faith to hang in there. After plan A activation I will work tirelessly on plan B than plan C.

Dreams can be a reality if we continue to move forward even when we are forced to stop. Stop and in the words of an old friend Gotowayo get back up and keep on moving. Move forward and continue working without giving up and keeping God the head of our lives will ensure our dreams will be a reality. Tears and frustration may come but continue to move forward. Faith without work is dead. Keep the faith and do the work.

Dreams Never Come Easy

On this journey called independent film making I am learning it is not an easy journey. In the beginning stages I knew if I had the idea, rented the equipment, worked hard, requested assistance from the pros, and kept God first everything would be simple. Everything was simple in the beginning and not really at that point either but I will say without a doubt the middle and the ending of this process has been draining. Jesus is helping me through but with that said I had some restless days and crazy nights but God has and still is good to me. Going after a dream is not easy but if we hold onto Jesus we will get through. If anyone said living your dreams would be easy I know they never lived their dreams.

One step closer to having a finished product some issues must be worked out but if all goes well next week I will have the hard drive and DVD's in my hand and a praise in my mouth. Living out my dreams

Not A Feature

I really wanted my first film to be a feature. Reading postings on the D-Word I knew the task would be difficult but I knew I could make it happen. After taping, taping some more and taping much more I realized for a movie to be a feature I must have over 100 hours of taping and more. I had some taping but nowhere near what I needed for a feature. After watching rough and fine cuts of the film I have decided not to stretch what I have just to have a feature. Once I accepted that a movie can be good even if it is a short I am now going in that direction for sure. My editor and I will have one or two more edits before I do my family and friends show and tell moment. After that it will sit for a week before I send in my final changes to my editor. I am excited about the possibilities of what is to come. The film and the music is really looking great and I give all honor to my Savior Jesus for making it happen.

The best is yet to come. Stay tuned a trailer maybe coming in the next couple of weeks.

Problems

I had a problem with the music I had for the film but I am now getting it fix. The music I thought I had I am unable to use it (oh what joy). The producer will be sending me new music today I hope and pray. Yesterday I was suppose to have a fine cut of the film but I was unable to get it because the narrative portion did not get to my editor. Now I must wait until Wednesday to get the fine cut and work from that point. Will keep everyone posted

Excited about the week coming and the progress the film is making

Narrative - Studio Time

Monday I went to the FLS studios to record the narrative for the film and it was a very exciting time. Today, I had the opportunity to listen to the finish product and I am pleased. Once the rough cut is finished hopefully this week or next week I will know if I need to add more to the narrative and/or re-tape.

Once I view the rough cut I will know if I must re-record some scenes. I am really thinking I will need to re-record my childhood home which will not be too bad I hope. God is allowing the project to move forward so I am moving one step at a time.

This week I had some minor issues with the music but Tarik came through and I am happy. Well I pray I will be pleased on Friday. Friday is the day I receive the new music. Creating a film takes a lot of time, money and effort and I am glad I have the passion and my Jesus to make it happen. Living out a dream one day and one moment at a time. Excited about the future.
